Island Packet Tanks

Anyone have any issues with Island Packet water/fuel/holding tanks? Particularly an Island Packet 35 from around the 1993 vintage?

Try asking your question at IP Home Port - The Official Website For Island Packet Yacht Owners Since 1998

Water/fuel tanks should be ok. Holding tank will give you problems about every ten years, however it is easy to replace and costs around $450 from the factory. Note that pertains to the older boats like the 32/35/37 not the 0 boats like the 350 and up.

I read its a common problem the aluminum under floor, aluminum water tanks corrode out requiring replacement. Not a small job. Google it, lots of links

Re: Island Packet Tanks

I should have mentioned a caveat on the water tank, if the previous owner used chlorinated water it could be a problem, I use a filter to remove chlorine when filling the tank. I also have participated on the IP discussion lists for the last 16 years and the main problem is holding tanks, rarely water tanks and even more rare fuel tanks.
