Intermittently working 12-volt holding plate system

Almost new poster here! My old 12-volt holding plate system (E-Z Kold) has been working well for many years. After being turned off for a year, at the beginning of this season it worked well, brought the holding plate down to 20° F. After about 2 week it stopped cooling. The compressor was running, but the temp never went down. Luckily I was only there for a short time, so decided to put off dealing with it. 10 days ago, returned to the boat, turned it on, and it worked!! Until this morning... Again, its running, but not getting cold. Under the assumption something is freezing in the lines, planning to let it thaw out completely before turning it back on. The boat's in Mexico, not sure about small boat refrigeration mechanics around here.

Thanks for your help! Any thoughts are most welcome.
