Fresh Water System Dilemma!!

.....Okay...so water pump is working fine, (I know because I installed a new one after this issue), but suddenly I get very little pressure to the galley sink....Absolutely no water from the galley sink foot pump filtered outlet...Pressure is good in forward head. Water pump located under quarter birth. Water pump, turned on, runs continuously... when yesterday after turned on would stop running after a few seconds as pressure built. When I disconnected the outflow of the pump there squirted huge back pressure for about 20 seconds. I don't think it is the pump adjuster screw because the same happens with both the old and new pumps....
....Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

I have deleted the other posts you made in various forums across the site, perhaps we can keep to one thread.

Re: Fresh Water System Dilemma!!

Sorry Pete..I'll stick to one thread. Just thought I'd get more replies if posted on the other two areas.

Re: Fresh Water System Dilemma!!

So, just to clarify, because your post was confusing, you have an electric pump which supplies pressure to the pipe work, yes? if so what does the foot pump at the sink do? surely if its a separate foot pump then it isn't connected to the pressurized pipe work but has its own pipe coming off before the pump and therefore needs you to pump with your foot to get water.

Is it clogged, does it have its own filter?

Re: Fresh Water System Dilemma!!

Yes.. water pump to plumbing....pulls from two water tanks.
The sink has two faucets. One for general use and a small one for filtered water. The foot pump/switch is for the small one. I think the foot lever actual opens the small faucet, not actually a pump, and is hooked to the pressure system.
I thought maybe a clog but wouldn’t that build pressure enough for the pump to pause?

If the pump doesn't go off it means it isn't building pressure, which suggests empty tanks or a clogged suction strainer. This would match your indications except you say the forward sink has pressure.

Have you taken the aerator out of the fancet and tried the flow?

Are you sure about the foot lever being a valve and not a pump? If you pump it with your foot, does water come out?

Re: Fresh Water System Dilemma!!

You have a clogged line is my guess. It is clogged after the discharge side of the pump somewhere . The clog is allowing some pressure through but not much.

I repair and install swimming pool equipment.

Check the screw out end on the faucet? They sometimes clog up...

Re: Fresh Water System Dilemma!!

Thanks for the replies and suggestions!
I will try the aerator and the screw out end of the faucett later today
to check for clogs.
ttex...Since you work on pools and are familiar with plumbing and clogs...any suggestions for what to use to maybe snake out the lines or some kind of declog method?
accomplice...Water used to come out fine but now even if I pump with my foot not a drop.
Also...I forgot to mention there seems to be a lot of air pockets in the flow of water from the forward head sink although it has good pressure....even after running long enough that air should have bled out.

Re: Fresh Water System Dilemma!!

I heve the same behaviour. The foot pump has a valve in the suction. If I leave it open the electric pump will run continuously and discharge via the foot pump. If I use the foot pump I have to open the valve and nothing else. It appears that the valves in the foot pump cannot hold the pressure of the electric pump.

Re: Fresh Water System Dilemma!!

If there is a clog...why would the pump run continuously with all taps shut?

pressure switch failed/clogged, suction check valve back leaking so not reaching pressure, leaks, the water pump doesn't even have a pressure switch

I assume by "continuously" you mean beyond a few minutes

Re: Fresh Water System Dilemma!!

SAILORBOY 1.....I thought the water pump did have a pressure shut off valve within...

Where should I look for this "suction check valve back"?...Or the "Pressure switch" you mentioned that is not in the water pump?
