Why does a bow thruster switch need to be so complicated?

My Vetus bow thruster control has gone bad. One side still works and I can use a jumper to work the other side.
The thruster control needs seam similar to a winch but winch controls can control a contactor without all the circuitry, is there a reason they need it?

Lewmar's e.g. has a delay-function so one cannot switch from one side to the other too quickly for the motor's good & it has a time-out function too afaik
