Rotary oil seal replacement Maxpower electric bow thruster?

I was wondering if anyone has replaced their oil seals on the gearbox/leg for a Maxpower (CT80?) electric bow thruster?

The manual says they are maintenance free, but I find it hard to believe that a rubber oil seal that is underwater lasts forever (and I've just had to replace other 'lifetime' oil seals on the helm and windlass)

Has anyone done this either preventively? or after disaster?

Thanks?
