Question About Props

Hi,

I have dual yanmars on our cat and both props are identical and seem to spin in the same direction. I'm pretty sure they spin clockwise in forward and counter clockwise in reverse.

It seems odd that the screws don't spin in opposite directions to balance each other while underway..

Can someone shed some light on this for me?

Cheers,

Jon

Yanmar saildrives have different forward/reverse gearing and cannot be operated in both directions equally, so they cannot be setup for counter-rotation.

Volvo saildrives have the same gearing and gear ratios in forward and reverse, so it doesn't matter which way they spin. You can make them counter-rotating by just changing the prop and shifter linkage.
