Km35A Gear Box attachment

Hi All:

I have a stripped thread on the shifting mechanisim of my km35a Gear Box. I have been looking all over the place to see how to remove the gear box so that I could insert a heli coil or some such device. I have looked in the manual and found that it is attached with bolts but there is no mention of what, if anything is used to seal the gear box when it is reattached to the engine. Does anyone have experience in what is needed? A seal? Gasket? Form a gasket?

Generally there is no gasket between the gearbox and the engine. The area is dry.

I managed to take the gear box out. It wasn't difficult. Just awkward. Four bolts and two studs. Had to slide it aft a little less then two inches to get it off of the spline. They weigh about 20 lbs so it wasn't hard to pull it out and put in the trunk. I have it on the Bench now and am going to drill in a threaded insert and then clean up any rust and re install it this weekend.
