How would you .....

describe the efficacy of this repair technique? There's little extraneous info in this picture but if anybody can guess how this damage was caused I'll post some spectacular photos of the failure that lead to it!

*hint* it isn't on a boat but a hovercraft.

Craft threw a blade? (second picture mease sense, not so much the first.

As for the repair....

I think it was a great repair...

Since we are seeing it, it must have worked.

(on edit, not so much... it looks like it may have just been preventing or slowing, coolant loss)

It's Propeller Failure, I think from a Fan blade. Possibly from sort of Hovercraft type vessel?

We had an aircraft company in NZ not so many years back. (Now defunct) They had a Dash 8 out on the tarmac outside the hanger doing a run up. The Aircraft was on chocks, engines reving but it seems no one was onboard, at least as far as I understand. A wheel rode out of one chock and the plane started to turn a 360. the wing and ofcourse, the propellor hit the side of the hanger and the prop disintergrated. A piece of prop shot through the hanger wall and flew across the large hanger and hit a engineers toolbox compleatly wrecking it. Luckily no one was injured by the pieces of prop. but I be a few butts must have got a damn good kicking.

Prop failure at high speed on a hovercraft. I think the repairs were over a quarter million. Theory is they pulled something through the blade that set it all off.
