Cavalier 32 Prop Anode

Hi All, Does my Cavalier 32 require an anode near the prop.

Recently a commercial surveyor indicated that I may need an anode adjacent to my two blade prop. As far as I recall, my girls has never had one. She has the enclosed prop with the rudder post very close to the blades.

If yes what is the typical connection like. Does the size of the anode matter and does the distance from the prop matter.

While it's impossible to say with certainty that you need one without a bunch more information, it is cheap insurance for your shaft and prop. Get an oblong one if it will fit:

or a collar if it won't. By the way, is your shaft bonded to the rest of the grounding? If you use a flexible coupling, you may need to either jump it with a wire or add a shaft brush.

Yes, the effectiveness of an anode is dependent on both its surface area and its distance from the metals being protected.
