New Here - Introducing Me and My Boat !

Hey all,

My name is Chris and I'm new to this forum, it look's awesome!

I would like to introduce my boat and hope you find her interesting.

Sea watch (formally Air watch) is a 63 foot Miami class aircraft crash rescue boat built in 1943 by the Miami ship building corporation for the RAAF, since her retirement from the RAAF she has had a raised bridge deck built on, full refurbishment of under deck accommodation and living quarters, existing motors replaced with MWM (deutz) 11 liter V12 twin turbo diesels with reverse reduction gearboxes, new keel and full fibre glass over hull and top side to name a few things. She is now in the process of having a full refurbishment and modernization and overhaul of engines. I would love to hear from anybody who maybe able to tell me more about my boats history, I hope you found this interesting and would like to hear your thoughts!

Thanks

Chris.

Awesome boat I would love to see more pics. You have a one of a kind and to me that is the best part. Post more pics, you might be able to get more info on the boat if you contact the navy.

Ye gods Chris, that's not a boat, it's a full blown MTB

You could try asking the RAAF if they still have her sevice records. Occasionally the RN are able to help folk out like that.

Anyway welcome to CF.

Awesome,
That last shot looks like the mariner on the south bank, halfway between Brisbane city and the airport.
More photos, please.

vnkiwi

Holly Crap! That's wonderful! I've been trying to find out if any of those boats were still afloat! You really need to get in touch with Dr. Paul George. He's a Miami historian working at Miami-Dade College and with our history museum History Miami. I'm sure he can give you information on Miami Ship Building Corp. and he would love to have copies of the printed material you have for the museum. Here is a link to his bio on the college website, it also has an email to contact him. Department of Social Sciences | MDC Wolfson Campus
My friend, Don Boyd, has a website with historic Miami photos. I'm sure he would love to post some of your photos: Memories of Old Hialeah, Old Miami and Old South Florida Photo Galleries - largest non-Facebook collection on the internet Photo Gallery by Don Boyd at pbase.com
You can contact me through my companies website www.hopkins-carter.com
Did you ever see the old TV series Miami Vice? The old Miami Shipbuilding Corp. building was used for the exterior of the police department in the show.

Welcome! It's evident that you've done a lot of work on her.
