How could you?
That's utterly disgraceful.
Totally un-American. You are a traitor!!!
In light of that, congrats on your new boat. Really nice looking too.
What size? Does it also have the basement apartment?
We were also seriously kicking around the possibility of a houseboat and looked at several. My Allied 39 Ketch is still for sale and I just bought a Mainship 36. We are going inland next year when I retire. Are you planning on changing your cruising grounds?

It is a 50' Gibson Cabin Yacht.... and in a pinch I can honestly say it does in fact have a basement
We've named it... "Ditch Rider" and will be cruising the intracoastal in South Florida.. no way we would consider taking this offshore, except in absolutely perfectly flat conditions.....

Make sure to make your way up the ICW to NW Florida. Gorgeous stuff, but don't tell anybody.

Great choice! I think someday we will end up with a houseboat and Gibson will be my ONLY choice.

Gibson builds a very nice HB & they perform very well if used for what they are designed for. There are a lot of them on the river & the owners enjoy them even if they seldom leave the slip.

I own a house, and I wish there was some way I could make it float away! Does that make it a house boat?

Owning a boat in the first place is a sign of insanity. Trading a perfectly good sailboat for a power boat is just moving up from a mild neuroses to schizophrenia. At least you didn't get a multi.

Re: joined the darkside.. sold the sailboat... bought an....OMG
I bought a trawler in my twenties after owning only monohull sailboats, my sailor friends called me trawler trash .But that was nothing to the ribbing I got when I bought a multihull!!
Now I'm back to the mainstream mono...for now
Love the houseboat, she looks great! Embrace the darkside
Cheers,
Ocean Girl

Hey Ditch Rider, Great Choice! You'll love it. We have a 35' Bluewater and in less than 30 days, once the sale on our house closes, we will Liveaboard her full time. Our backyard is going to be Sebastian, Fl to Key West, Fl. This type of boat is perfect for cruising the ICW. Lots of room, shallow draft and stable. Maybe we'll see ya, the first rounds on us.
