I don’t often take pictures of other boats, but when I do…
Since I have always had a boat, I really don’t take pictures of other boats. But this one is really something. So I had to.

I'm 99% sure that's an FPB 64. One of the Dashew designs. They're certainly imposing to look at (and quite capable to back it up).

Re: I don’t often take pictures of other boats, but when I do…
I should have looked more closely to try to determine the length. I was passing by. And guess what? I saw a second one! They were two of them! Within a few miles.
I figured everyone would know that these were the FPB designs.
One of my favorites. If I had built a powerboat, I would have built one like this.
Probably is the 64. The one that was hauled out nearby I don’t know if it was a little smaller or if it was just because I was looking at it from the bow on.

There was one down in Jolly this spring, Iceberg by name.
I believe Dashew said someone was building a knock off.
I don't recall the original boat with the extra layer of superstructure. Iceberg was even worse as it had two GIGANTIC radomes above a huge glass deck. It looked even more top-heavy than the one above as the upper deck was the same size as the lower deck. It later passed up in Dominica

Re: I don’t often take pictures of other boats, but when I do…
I've followed Steve Dashew's designs, and read his book decades ago, but on this I'm going to be contrary.
I assume that most designers possess a fairly complete set of ships curves, but that thing looks as though the only tool the designer had was a ruler/straightedge.
With that kind of length to work with it shouldn't be that hard to incorporate a little "subtlety of shape".
The deckhouse and whatever that contraption is on top of it looks like a something from a grade school kid, or a Tinker toy.
Sorry Steve, that's not one of your better efforts.

You know, I like the square look. I just don’t like the layer cake. My mind ignored that. Ha ha.

I’m not a huge power boat fan but that I like
It would look better if the top superstructure was gone

I think it is DashewISK, not Dashew.
At least I am not convinced it is.
The 3rd story is problematic.
BUT I am no expert and may be proven wrong once again.
The one in Jolly was even more top heavy.

That’s the spot! The one on the hard was at Bock marine. Where I have hauled out and rebuilt a sail drive or two in my time. Ha ha. A good spot for DIY.
I didn’t see you! Maybe I was blinded by all that shiny aluminum.
Were you underway? Are you stopped?
Where are you headed? We sure are close by.
I sent an email

I'm with you. I would not say it is hideously ugly, but, I find the square layer cake look unappealing to say the least...

Sorry, I have to put that in the "ugly" category. But if that's your sort of thing, I won't hold it against you.
The point I wanted to make was that I take lots of pictures of other boats. If I get a good one, I'll generally try to get it to the owner. At anchor, I'll dinghy over. Once I got a great pic of one of those replica sailing ships run as a non-profit, and sent a framed copy to their offices. Someone saw it there and bought the rights to it for the cover of a book. So now I'm technically a published photographer.

Re: I don’t often take pictures of other boats, but when I do…
The FPBs were definitely built for function, not appearance. Being aluminum, I'm betting a prettier shape would have added cost, but without functional benefit.
The superstructure is a bit different between the different FPB models, so they don't all look quite the same. At least the layer cake on those is done better than some of the modern sport fishes. A few of those just leave me thinking of those Devo hats whenever I see one.
As far as knock-offs, there are a few similar designs out there at this point. Like the Artnautica LRCs, for example.
