Getting away from reality

Getting away from reality a bit, why would mega rich people have a 100 + foot monohull gin palace built, when you can get one of these wave peircers second hand and refitted as a luxury boat for similar money??

Much better cruising boat in my opinion using less fuel and certainly more user friendly. Not to mention looking bloody awesome.

She's got that "Klingon, Bird of Prey" look for the Star Trek fans amongst us.

I often wonder the same thing. Having worked aboad megayachts, I can attest that they are not such great boats. They are all pretty much the same (maybe Armani's is a cool designed interior), and they really make me yawn when I see them these days. I also see tons of great commercial vessels out there that would make very interesting megayachts.

I guess the thing that would get even the very wealthy running the above vessel would be the gallons per mile rating (yes, gallons per mile).

PS: Great bird of prey reference!! Looks just like one!

Yeah but gosh darn ugly. IMO.
They build to what they want because they are so damn bored with their lives, they have to have something to do and decisions to make. It's all they have left in life. They have the best workign for them making all the day to day business decisions and all they have left is what company to buy or sell next.:-)
