Can it be done?

I've recently been asked to bring a 34' Trojan to central Florida. Owner wants to go inland to Mississippi River and then around to Port Canaveral.
Totaly new waters to me. So ...
Can it be done? What route is possible?
Lake Erie to Huron to Michagan to Chicago and then south? Do I need serious weather gear">foul weather gear? For cold?
Or, is there a way to the Ohio river? Haven't gone to inland charts yet. Thought I'd ask here first.

Thank you Tayana for the most rapid response.
My quick check revealed it might be done, butn not this year it seems.
To many lock closures along the way. Till Oct. Sounds like cold, foul and nasty weather gear.
