Confess Now: How Many Here Are Above the Double Nickels ?

I hit the big Seven Zero this last Boxing day. So it has been awhile sence I've seen double nickels.
Had to acquire a new Drivers license and am now miffed at those bureaucratic clecks at DMV... They refused to change my Birth date from 1940 to 1980. And they laughed also.

But being born in the first half of the last century, does have a nice ring to it.

Have worked on the Ocean all of my adult life, though I have tried to get a shore job several times. I am now an Instructor for those who want their USCG 100/200 Master/Mate Licenses. Been doing this for about five years now.
Am renewing my 1600 ton Master / 2nd Mate unlimited tonnage upon Oceans license right now...
How does that put me in the ASA standing??

Now is there anyone else willing to admit that they are above the double nickels??

Way above and still single handling a 44 ft. Motorsailer. My boat is considered senior friendly and I can still climb that 55ft mast.lol

DOUBLE NICKELS ARE 55. As he was born in1940, he is well pass 55 years of age, not old...

Not quite your age, I'm going on 59, Admiral is 62..

My grandfather pulled lobster traps in the Keys by hand until he was 78 and only quit because he broke a leg and Dr. advised yo not pull traps anymore..

I always consider senior to be a reference of experience not a reference of ability.

Don't think she's actually a cougar, bit hell YES.

Can't seem to get rid of her after 40 years, so I might as well keep her.

LOL

I'm a dime past double nickels, but with the economy this bad, I tell people I'm 8 cents past 44 cents.

I'll confess also, 10 years past that, but darn near everything works most of the time. Had to give up flying, still dive, boat. and look at cute things in short skirts. Just don't want to get caught doing it to often.

Retired and enjoying life. Just spemt a month in Las Vegas and a week at the beach in SoCal. (Las Vegas might have something to do with high sugar levels!!!)

Re: Confess Now: How Many Here Are Above the Double Nickels ?

Not even close. I've got at least a couple of months to go yet but doctor told me I had the blood of a teenager. At the time I thought that was great but afterwards it occured to me I should have asked if he meant my blood alcohol level. Oh well, it's not the age you are but the age you're going to be that hurts.

Re: Confess Now: How Many Here Are Above the Double Nickels ?

I'm 61 and I have a 2 t-shirts that I often wear.

Number 1:
"Geezer formally known as stud muffin"

Number2:
"Old enough to know better and young enough not to care"

Sent number one to my older brother but I doubt he wears it.

Congrats boasun, there's many the day that I doubt I'll make it to your lofty position. And happy belated birthday!!

Rich
