Rockland, Maine?

Hello all,

My wife and I are thinking of basing our sailboat next summer up in Rokland, Maine. Any advice any of you may give would be helpful. Places to go, do, see, etc. Oh yeah, we have two children as well. They'll be 5 and 2 1/2. Our thoughts are to have tho boat on a mooring with Ocean Pursuits, and to have it dry docked in the winter there as well.

Thanks in advance,

Christian

Hi Christian,

I don't have a boat yet so I may not be the best person to answer your question. HOWEVER, my Doctor has his boat there and recommended it to me. The rates are suppose to be quite reasonable. When I get my boat (real soon, I hope) thats where I'll park in warm weather. Check out the Rockland website The City of Rockland

Thanks Harold,

I appreciate the repy. That was actually posted a year ago and we were fortunate to have spent a wondeful Summer in Rockland. maine cruising is everything you may have read and more. It was fantastic!

We loved the convenience of Rockland, but were somewhat turned off by the busy-ness. We have decided to stage our sailing next Summer out of Rockport. It's only a few miles north (an hour sailing time) but way more quaint and secluded.

I do agree Maine is beautiful and if you get the chance to Cross the Bay, Nova Scotia is great too...

Cheers
