Miami Strictly Sail - Hotels

Just booked our flights and a couple of seminars for the weekend and we're aware hotels are booking up. Just looking for suggestions for places to stay that are cool and convenient to the sail part of the show.

Re: Miami Strictly Sail - Hotels

We just came home from the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area last weekend. Florida has gotten a bit crazy in that area. We used to get Comfort Suites, Quality Inns and similar for $80-$90 per night quite often and they were over $200 per night the other week! Suggest you get something booked now or you will have trouble finding a place and/or pay a very high price.

Re: Miami Strictly Sail - Hotels

Strictly Sail is at Bayside. It's right next door to AA Arena (Heat) Bayside is fine. The area around it not so much. Shuttles run from the covention center on the beach. So you can get a hotel there. But its in SOBE so there is a price to pay. But you can play with all the beautiful people. If you rent a car stay further north on the beach or go to Ft. Lauderdale. Its about 45 min. north from Bayside. Don't forget the Cruisers Outpost party Sat. night.

Give AirBnB a look.
There were a couple places available as of 2 weeks ago.
Good luck,
Mike

Re: Miami Strictly Sail - Hotels

Normally I hate when people make suggestions that are contrary to what the OP asked for.... but here I go:

You can consider renting a studio apartment on South Beach for a couple of nights. The prices were cheaper than a hotel when I did this a couple of years ago. It's not convenient to the show - in that you have to take a taxi the show. But it enables you to enjoy the nightlife and dining of South Beach just by walking out your door. If interested checkout VRBO or craigslist.

Hi s/vfootloose

I will be attending the show also... I am new to the world of sailing and boats and just starting my learning. I enjoy Cruisers Forum is the Outpost party open for all? If it is where is it located?

Thanks

You just need to be in the Strictly Sail show when the gates close for the day at 6pm. If you are, you're in!
