Well there you go......Perhaps a moment of silence for a boat that did its duty for 30 years.
Glad no one was hurt.
Does this in the long run make my 30+ year old boat more valuable

Damn that has to suck to come all that way and be 30 miles from your destination and sink
Would love to know what happened, the weather here was not great that day but not that bad either. Knowing Choy lee i would think a bad seacock but that is just a guess on my part

Yes, that's the one. Apparently she was just bought, off Ebay, and being delivered.

But with 5 people, and give me an old t-shirt to stuff in the hole and I would think keeping up with any leak but major major hull damage from a dead-head would be easy. I wonder how "proffesional" this crew was?

30 miles south of cape lookout is in the gulf stream and the wind was out of the NNE-NE Saturday night and blowing 25+. With the wind against the current like that the stream can get pretty rough. It could have busted something loose.

I was on a delivery from Mexico back to California on a Frer 64, we had a thruhull fitting break off in the bow in the middle of the night. Water fills a boat pretty fast but we got it under control and made it to Turtle bay for repairs

Bill do you think the stream has been in that close? I thought it was a bit further out but I know it moves. 25 knots should not have been that bad for a boat this size but you never know.
The thing about leaks like that is they can be hard to find. The floor boards could be awash before you notice a problem, then it can be hard to figure our where it is coming from.
They could have hit something with all the rain around here things get washed out the rivers, big things like trees and such.
Guess we would all love to know what happened.
