Re: Cautionary tale: falling overboard while peeing

Idiotic custom which is a good way to get yourself killed.

Ironclad rule on Capri. Everyone goes below to the head and everyone pees sitting down.

Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"

Over the side, down the cockpit drains or through the outboard compartments.

Never in the head.

Ever.

That's why one does it between the stays.. your arms lock you on the boat and no way can the boom reach you... and when one has done the foredeck and mast get a quick check to make sure all is well..

Dear Boatie/Abby,

I tried that.... it was a bit of a reach...I remembered the old adage, "one hand for the boat and one for me..'

the boat heeled and I locked in.. however the hand that was not for the boat pulled to one side. I hung on.

I now have 3 inches extra. Should I brag or complain?

Yours confusedly..

4 inches is nothing to brag about...) )

Seriously knowing when and when not to..... is just common sense and a knowledge of wind direction.

Although I now have a new litoral vision of what some consider as "PC"

Yep, it's only "PC" to "pee in the sea", not on the beach.

Or did you mean literal?
litoral:
noun
the region of the shore of a lake or sea or ocean

Of course I pee in my yard, how else would the neighbor dog know it was my territory? I am courteous though, I wave at the people driving by.

Re: Cautionary tale: falling overboard while peeing

Wifey B: Well since none of us, none of our gf's or me have ever seen it done we might have to have my hubby do it once just as a demo. He might need an extra hand or something too from the way you guys talk. Just can't offer that help too soon or he'll never be able to pee.

This could be like a sailors experiment....scientific research. Whats it feel like to do it and what it's like watching a dude do it.

I'm looking at this weekend. We'd have to go offshore a good ways. Saturday not looking so good for the test. 3 to 5' occasional 6'. 6 to 8 with occasional 10 in gulf and 7 seconds. Sunday better with 2 to 4 feet with occasional seas to 5 feet along the coast and 4 to 6 feet with occasional seas to 8 feet in the Gulf Stream. We'll be in the Riva so not sure where the best place for him to do it would be. At least he'll have help to make sure he doesn't go overboard.

Yep, Houston, we have a plan. He just doesn't know it yet.
