A distinguished four-time circumnavigator is among those who have joined the fleet for the upcoming Baja Ha-Ha. From today's 'Lectronic Latitude:

"Celebrated Circumnavigator Joins Ha-Ha

"While reviewing background info on this year's Baja Ha-Ha entrants, William (Scott) Piper III's stats jumped off the page at us. In fact, when we read that he'd logged more than 180,000 sea miles, we thought it must have been a typo."

We have our full coverage policy through Zurich. American Marine Insurance is the broker for this policy. They also handle Markel which seems to be quite a bit cheaper than Zurich but we will need a recent out of water survey before changing over to Markel. No matter what full coverage policy you decide on you will need a out of water survey no more than 12 months old.
Unfortunately American Marine does not handle the Markel Jackline policy which is what you would need when heading south past Mexico.
Hope this helps.

Baja Ha-Ha in 2009 Insurance

We have Markel from Mariners General. They have an office in SD and I used Kevin as my agent. http://my.marinersins.com/
Have been more than happy with them after we lost our whole rig last year and no one else would insure our old boat.

I will also have more detailed info on Donations for BT schools next week from the wife of the Mayor. The weather has messed things up a bit right now.

We will be at SDYC after the 22nd of Oct getting the rig retuned for the HA-HA. Hope to see you all in person.
