East coast spain,

Hello to forum, looking for advise
Going to be leaving, Canet (Fr) begining of July heading south.
What are my chances of turning up and getting a space in a marina, July-September, I don't mind lurking at anchor waiting but do they have stay limits during the busy/mad season, especially July. Or is it a case of ounce your in, your in
(Sail, 11.5/1.6)
Would be wanting to leave the boat for about a month in each of 3 locations,
Haven't had much luck with emailing, well very little.
Some places looked at
Rosses
Barcelona (port Vell)
Puerto Pollensa
Sant Carles
Denia

Was looking at Denia as an over winter place to leave her. Have fired off some emails but not had any replies.
Fun fund will be under strain so any adjoining info on price would be appreciated.
After doing a bit of Internet stuff looks like going for a annual contract and use that as a base for jaunts.
Cheers
P

Re: East coast spain,

Hi P,

We sailed down the French Atlantic coast, northern Spanish coast and Portuguese coast last summer. We were also initially worried about space in marina's but we need not have worried there was so many berth's available at every port on the way. There were no time limits you pay your money and enjoy your stay. There are not many options to anchor along the Portuguese coast until you get to The Algarve (Cascais).

Spanish marina's are well known for not responding to email. The cheapest marina to stay in Spain is Almerimar(very, very popular particularly because of the price, as an overwintering marina) closely followed by Valencia, Port Vell is good too. The most expensive marina's, from June to October, are in the Balearic's particularly Puerto Pollensa which is also we understand is very full and difficult to get a berth.

We are currently in La Linea marina, next to Gibraltar where we have taken a year's contract. You can't get a berth in Marbella and Marina Del Este is very expensive (although lovely).

We hope you find this information helpful. If you require any more info don't hesitate to contact me. We also check out people's sailing blog or as members of the Cruising Association (The Cruising Association) who have a brilliant, up-to-date information on most ports in the Med.
