I'm not trying to poke Jedi, I'm seriously interested. He has a big boat and if he's having it cleaned monthly at the rates I charge, his claim is feasible. But I'd like to know the details- where he's located, who's doing the cleaning now, how often and for how much.

After that I'll tell him why he probably spent money on a device that (assuming it actually goes into production) won't do nearly the job he's doing, or having done now by a human.

Any review of the Keelcrab? I'm keen to get one myself but would like to hear from an actual user how well it works.

He doesn't get his machine until next summer. This thing is a Kickstarter campaign at this point.

I'm also curious as to how the machine will clean out a bowthruster tunnel, scrape the prop and prop shaft, inspect/tighten the anode bolts and change out the anodes when needed? Does it scrape off barnacles and get into places like the through hull fittings?

Re: No more hull scraping / under water cleaning

Doesn't look like it's doing a very good job from the video so I don't think fstbttms has anything to worry about lol

Given how you have to drive the thing remotely, I think the estimate of 50 minutes to do a 40' boat is wildly optimistic. Looks like it would take hours, and the result would be adkin to a cat with mange.

No, and there won't be for a while. At this point it is just a kickstarter campaign to raise money. These devices are not yet on the market. As with all such kickstarter campaigns, whether or not it ever will actually get to the market is at least somewhat uncertain.

If it DOES actually get to the market, will it be the end of manual hull cleaning? Call me hopeful, but skeptical.
