Grounding wind gen

Is it necessary to ground the wind generator? Is so, where would the best spot be?

Electrically I can’t see any reason, maybe some kind of lightening grounding?

I’m assuming you have a standard 12 or 24 volt DC windgen. If so, it won’t need grounding to operate.

Standard 12V. If I got hit by lighting, I would have more problems than just not having my wind gen grounded I imagine.

Re: Grounding wind gen

We have a southwest wind power air breeze I did not hook up the ground 10 years ago and I don’t intend to now it’s been operating just fine.

The ground is just a case ground, I cannot come up with a good reason to attach the ground on a low-voltage wind generator

I also have the Air Breeze and just put in new bearings and upgraded to the blue blades. I hadn't grounded the wind gen originally but thought I would ask.

How do you like the blue blades?

Not sure yet. Put them on over the weekend and have had no wind since. With the hurricanes north of us it pulls all of the energy out and leaves it very calm. Should see this weekend I would imagine.

Re: Grounding wind gen

The blue ones are the quieter ones if I recall correctly?

One of my neighbours had the old blades. They were horrendously noisey. I loaned him my smart charger in exchange for him tethering his wind generator. Win/win for all around him really.
