Centre Boards on a Gemini 105MC

Hi all,

I need some advice,
I am currently putting my centre boards back in my Gemini 105 MC,
On one side they are flat and smooth,
On the other side they have a ridge and Taper off back to the rear of the boards,
Which side goes to the out side of the boat,
The owners manual does not say which way they go,
Thanks in advance,

Cheers, Brian,

Re: Centre Boards on a Gemini 105MC

The most simple answer to your question can likely be had by contacting the manufacturer. Absent that, when sailing to windward one would want the leeward board deployed and with that, one would want the "lift" generated along the curved side of the board, to the weather side of the yacht, to help reduce leeway. Accordingly, the curved sides of the boards should be inboard. I suspect Gemini will agree.

FWIW...

Brian. Good to see you are moving along with the refitting.. Missed your exploits.

I'll be heading over to my marina later this afternoon. There is a 105M on the hard in the yard and I'll see if I can get a look at it.

A look at Hobie Cat hulls should answer your question.

They are daggerboards not centerboards. They go flat side out.

Re: Centre Boards on a Gemini 105MC

Thank you for your replys, Much appreciated,
I thought the ridge side would go to the inside, But wasnt sure,
I am on the Yahoo Gemini site but still havent got an answer from them,
On the Gemini, They are Centre Boards, not Dagger boards,
They are very heavy when lifting by myself,

Cheers, Brian,

I'm sure you are correct. Having said that, the boards on a Gemini are as flat as, well,..... you know, a pancake......

I suspect that the ridge that is there, is to keep the board from "clunking" around under sail.

BTW, we seem to be sailing the same waterway. Bradenton Yacht Club? Snead Island?
