Pacific Northwest Liveaboard Locations / Groups

I am currently building a boat that I hope to move onto in two years. I am located in the south end of Puget Sound in Washington State. Can anyone direct me to a list of liveaboard marinas and possibly to a liveaboard group. I know there was one in Puget Sound several years ago, but I am unable to locate them on Google anymore. Links, URL's, emails, whatever you can share would be appreciated.

Hello and welcome to the forum,

I hope you find what you are looking for. I like the south puget sound area. I went to school at SPSCC.

There are all kinds of communties on the water throughout the Puget Sound. I read a book a while back about a bunch that sqwatted on old barges. There are liveaboards that are downright unfriendly and give me a dirty look everytime I am working on my boat in thier marina- and then there are tons of people inbetween the two extremes. My advice to you is to decide how you want to live, then find a group of liveaboards which share the same ideals.

There used to be Puget Sound Cruising CLub (PSCC) that met once a month. You might try googling that... many of those people were living aboard...

Just Left Olympia

Cheechaka,

I'm a little confused about what you are asking for. There was liveaboard at West Bay Marina in Olympia (as we just left there), and Swantown (although there is a list). There's also liveaboard over in Tacoma (in the waterway) and certainly up in Poulsbo, Port Townsend, Port Angeles, and Sequim (although many have waiting lists they usually go by pretty fast).

Don't know about a Puget Sound Liveaboard website but if there is one it shouldn't be too hard to find.

Hope this helps a little.

Check out the Bremmerton YC, just went there. It is inexpensive very nice. Do not know their liveaboard policy. Let me know, thanks

Liveaboard Association of Puget Sound Puget Sound group. Oh and it's easyer to get into a marina for a slip than posted. There are plenty. We have lived aboard at Foss waterway marina, Shilshoal Marina and are presently at Delin Docks in Tacoma. There are also many many sneak aboards. Those living on there boats without saying they are. Get your boat into a marina as a regular and then it's easyer to change to live aboard status.
