How do you record delivery sea service?

If you are a delivery Watchman on a five day delivery (in Australia) 24hrs a day. How many days do you record in your record of sea service? 5 days or based on a standard day 7.5 hrs (as per AMSA), more?

Re: How do you record delivery sea service?

Five initially. But only if both the first and last day involve more than 7.5 hours at sea.

Straight from AMSA: A dayis a minimum of 7.5 hours

No maximum(other than 24 hours).

Days at sea are days at sea. Generally, you can't claim more than one day for a single calendar day.

But note:

Additional sea service (10 days) is credited for
each full 20 days accrued on extended voyages:
• An extended voyage is a voyage:
- of more than 24 hours duration;
- including periods underway in a watch
keeping capacity or undertaking deck duties in both day and night;
- when fatigue is managed in accordance with the STCW Convention.

So you may be able to get a bit more credit if you have enough extended voyages.

Re: How do you record delivery sea service?

Ive had issues with pleasure boat deliveries as seatime, basically it can be a stuggle to claim it as commercial. I am not sure how AMSA will treat it these days. In the past going through the states if I could prove it was done as a commercial job, using my certificate of competancy and being paid (and taxed) they would grudgingly accept it as part of my commercial offshore seatime.

Make sure you get engineroom time as well if you are going the M24 & MED route in the future.
