Hello from Florida! Just bought my first sailboat.

Not only is this my first sailboat, its the only sailboat I have ever stepped foot on. She's a 1967 Hinckley Pilot 35, and as you can see she is in need of a little love. I do woodworking for a living so I'm really excited to get started. I have lots to learn and this forum has already proven to be an invaluable resource.

Welcome aboard.
Is that a wooden hull with teak decks glassed over?

Nope, it's a solid fiberglass hull and deck.

Lucky guy.
I had a similar looking boat made from teak and mahogany. Looked good but lots of work. That was over 30 years ago: I didn't know about better and I didn't mind working hard.
Fiberglass is the way to go, unless it is full of blisters.

I bet it's going to look great once you get it cleaned up. What part of Florida do you live in?

A great classic. Once spruced up she will be a beaut. Enjoy!

I'm living near Anna Maria Island right now but the boat is in Jacksonville. I hope to bring her around to the St pete area this summer.

I love St Pete. I was there a couple years ago as my oldest son was married on the beach there. Very nice area. Have even considered retiring there one day or maybe even a little farther south around Cape Coral.
