Motersailer? Pilothouse?

Curious,, and admittedly intrigued..
I recently posted a thread about head height, me being 6'2". I am looking for a boat to take on a long voyage down the ICW from the Atlantic North East to Florida to the Caribbean and back and around the Gulf of Mexico. A boat in which I can stand tall. I'll be in no hurry. I will also be single handling for the most part. I intend the trip to last around two years. Continuing on if I am enjoying myself. I want to be comfortable.
While browsing Yachtworld I examined some Motersailers and Pilothouse sail boats. It appears I can get higher head height in a shorter LOA. What's your opinion of these boats? How do they sail? Can they be easily single handed? Do they in fact have more headroom? Can I do short passages in a "sailboat" with only a 3.5 draft?
I understand that I would be motoring while on the ICW. But I am a sailor at heart. Will I be disappointed in the ability of this sort of boat while under sail?
Thanks for your opinion!

Re: Motersailer? Pilothouse?

I like the Pilothouse design, but motor sailors are a compromise. Right now, my ideal ICW cruising boat would be a multi hull. Any decent monohull is going to have 4' or more of draft. Cats, but in particular Trimarans would be fast. Cats you can get a lot of room in 30- 40'. A smallish trimaran would be fun to sail, and the best performance. Add a decent canvas cover, and it would be as good as a pilot house.
