Re: Forum Member's Boat and Daughter in Trouble off of Mexico

Or could have done longer sails down to Panama (country) and then turned right to Galapagos, 1,000 nms, and then Marquesas.
Lots of variables.

My first passage with Nicolle was 1000 nms St Martin...

Re: Forum Member's Boat and Daughter in Trouble off of Mexico

Good point.

Whats our forum Dr say about that? Or does salmonella die after a few days on a bench/floor?

I thought the relapse (if a relapse) may have been due to the kid being run down with...

Re: Forum Member's Boat and Daughter in Trouble off of Mexico

Because at sea when you get into trouble you don't wait to be fully informed, you work like hell to keep the boat afloat.

We have had plenty of information, correct or otherwise, for us to be able...

Re: Forum Member's Boat and Daughter in Trouble off of Mexico

Experience has taught me that no one can battle a media perception anyway, so best to just kill them with silence.

(But...

Re: Forum Member's Boat and Daughter in Trouble off of Mexico

I wish people here would allow others to have a differing opinion.

There has never been a thread with more people telling others not to express their opinions.

All the cruising countries relish...

Re: Forum Member's boat and daughter in trouble off of Mexico

When I did the trip from Galapagos to Marquesas, 3,200 nms, when we were in about the middle of the passage we were really a long way from shore, any shore.

Its about the only time I have got the...

Re: Forum Member's boat and daughter in trouble off of Mexico

Those expert in salvage who happen to be out there won't be giving the boat back!
They will have a claim of 90% of the value of the boat or daily tow cost of $5,000 upwards.

Maybe someone could...

Re: Forum Member's boat and daughter in trouble off of Mexico

Good post, Erica. All good points.
I don't know the answer to any of them. Its up to Atol or other salvagers to decide. I dont even know if the boat is insured. If it is, some would say its prudent...

Re: Forum Member's boat and daughter in trouble off of Mexico

And where do the salvors take the boat? Are they really going to risk their lives to do...

Re: Forum Member's boat and daughter in trouble off of Mexico

Galapagos i doubt would let you have a boat there.

The Marquesas arn't that backward! Flights into and out of Nuku...

Re: Forum Member's boat and daughter in trouble off of Mexico

Lol. A bit of a far fetched expectation.
The last time I looked all the cruising countries, including the USA, were democracies.

We can all have our own opinions.

I certainly agree with Eric...

Re: Forum Member's boat and daughter in trouble off of Mexico

Re the kids being more valuable than the boat. Yes, of course. But theres many cruisers who have sold everything for the boat.

And for some the boat is all the assets they have.

I don't know...
