Sorry, but my opinion is that a proper dinghy should be able to serve triple duty. To serve as a liferaft, provide shore to boat transportation in any weather and to serve as a tow boat if and when... |

We have a liferaft onboard, but I'd sooner climb into one of our survival suits and/or the dinghy before I'd trust the liferaft. Besides, we'd need to be loosing a fight with fire onboard or going... |

A liferaft is more of a necessity when you plan on being out of reach of most shore based rescue services. On a Catalina 22 which is basically a daysailer, you most likely won't be far enough... |
