Re: Bestevaer 49ST

We have a Spectra Newport 1000mK 2 and a Spectra 380c. 60 gallons per hour plus added redundancy by having two units. Tanks will hold 400 gallons.

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

With a reliable Spectra low energy consumption watermaker onboard like the OP is planning to purchase, why would one even bother with rainwater catchment? Just run the thing for an hour or two per...

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

Personally, I wouldn’t want to drink the rainwater coming off the deck on our boat. How in the world do you purify the water prior to use?

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

Bilge pump....

Whatever you do, DO NOT install a KPM Predator pump under any circumstances. We've had one fail miserably after only two months due to galvanic corrosion. The company uses a...

Please let us know how it works out. I'm very interested.

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

We never use our chart table for it's intended purpose eitther. Most of the time, our dive compressor resides under it and the table collects clutter. We look at large paper charts on the saloon...

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

Fiberglass boat, doors open, range 8-12ft. The ipad is what we use for iNavx

We expected better range from the Vesper unit.

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

The Vesper Wifi won't transmit beyond 8-12ft or so on our boat, so the signal won't reach our master cabin on the iPad. It also won't transmit through a closed door.

So, we have three iPads each...

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

We run two Spectra 380c units which produce a combined 34 gallons per hour off our solar. The combined DC draw is only 12-16 amps, so with your 1000w array, it'll be easily handled on a sunny day. ...

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

You should consider adding a small $89 NuWave induction cooktop to the mix or an Nespresso to warm the "cuppa". We haven't used propane for over five years, because I got tired of hunting for it in...

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

I read your KISS rational and understand why you're doing what you're doing, but why not add a 10 gallon hot water heater that works off the engine and solar? I just replaced our 14 gallon unit for...

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

Thanks for getting back. Our boat is now also 100% solar powered most of the time since we added 450w, and it seems like yours with 1000w should be enough. I've often thought of adding another...

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

I missed it earlier. Will you have a generator onboard? If not, why not on a boat this size and this costly?

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

That's because you've never installed a fuel polishing system. We did, and besides... even prior to that we've never yet had seawater in the fuel tank due to a poorly designed filler cap, the seals...

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

At least a foot or more. Here's a video showing the snubber working. I used an Ultra chain grab, dock line with chafe guards and two large dock snubbers maybe two feet long. It's important not to...

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

Have you seen the super snubber that I use? It eliminates all the problems you mention with your current method and still allows plenty of stretch. Just takes a minute to set and as far as...

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

Why not just run the two jumbo dock shock absorbers off the bow like we do? Plenty of stretch, less hassle and we never feel boat (tugging) movement at anchor. Feels like we're floating unattached.

re: Bestevaer 49ST

Induction cook tops and infrared oven. Forget about messing with gas cooking. Genset with solar to top off the batteries. I'm just about to pull the trigger on a Solbian 400w solar array for the...
