It seems to me as well that something in this whole story smells just a little fishy.

It's not a question of paying for the rescue. It's the ability to make the rescue.

It's 800 nm from Halifax to Bermuda. Not a problem to get a clear weather window for the first few days so...

The problem sailing south from anywhere in the NE and more so from Nova Scotia is that you squeezed between two potential weather problems.

Hurricanes. Leave too early or a late season...
