I'm awake now....will try to explain more clearly For topcoats.....I like to wet sand with 800 so that as you sand you can feel the paint surface for any blemish while keeping the fine dust... |

I agree to leave the dent. You want to be able to inspect it closely on each subsequent haul out. Personally...I don't like any fairing on the bottom more than 2 to 3" below the boot stripe. ... |

Terra Nova explained it better "off the bottom" is the key part so sludge cannot settle in the outlet. Then have a small draining valve AT the bottom to drain off accumulated contaminates BEFORE... |

No. .....that is incorrect, Wotname is exactly right.... .....you want your engine pickup away from any possibility of sucking in water/sludge or any other contamination in the fuel that could shut... |

The Hull looks good....take closeups of freshly sanded areas especially at stem and stern for your records. Normally you don't need any fairing below the waterline in a well built steel... |

For this type of unfaired 'commercial finish' this method works fine. It all depends on what standard of finish you are happy with. |
