Finally got the pump off the engine. The number two plunger fell out of it's barrel indicating that it was worn beyond tolerances. There is no seal per se, it is the fit of the plunger that serves as... |

also if it got worse with the electric pump, it leads me to think the same, to shop I go Any secrets I should know about to remove the pump? Shop manual shows it to be fairly simple process, just... |

assuming the mechanical lift pump was the problem, I installed an electric pump and completely bypassed the lift pump. But now the problem seems to be worse, so injector pump or bad injector? |

diesel in oil
I checked the oil level and is higher rather than lower on dipstick. No sign of water in oil, so I suspect that it is fuel. It is not a lot higher level, but it is higher. It is a perkins m-20/18... |
