Re: Bestevaer 49ST

Scratches are usually easy to sand out. Fortunately, you are not burdened with a bone-headed husband ( all sympathy to my long suffering wife) who cleans winches in the galley, among many other...

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

Sailmonkey. On second thought your explanation does not make sense.

What makes you think that the recess would typically be full of water? And with flue gases probably somewhere between 350-500...

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

I'm curious too. I would have thought it would be proud of the adjacent surfaces rather than recessed.

And the flue is stainless, no? How did they weld it to the aluminum deck???

"The mast base has not been installed yet. Selden make a neat one, but unfortunately it is not available for larger mast cross sections like ours, so KM will be fabricating one. This is an image...

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

Very, very nice. And completion will likely coincide with great sailing weather for you to move the boat wherever you wish.

The arch, as large as...

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

Bubinga is indeed beautiful, and different from the more common exotic hardwoods. I did a project with it years ago, for a parquet of bubinga and zebrawood. It is indeed hard, and somewhat brittle....

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

Also, the shaft is offset really far so that very little of the rudder area is ahead of the shaft axis, so there will be very little servo effect. What is the idea behind that? Wouldn't make any...

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

So the rudder will be a combination of stainless steel and aluminum.

Do you know how they weld stainless to aluminum? I would think that it would be difficult due to the differing temperature...
