Re: Bestevaer 49ST

That's great SWL. I'm sure he could have done the same with duct tape and fencing wire if forced ;). We recently had a sloppy mix of bread in the breadmaker and Jen accidentally threw the lot...

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

Canting keel is probably a better option. Quite a few years ago I was working for a boatbuilder that built water ballast tanks into a yacht specifically designed for a round Australia race. Quite a...

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

They seem very effective over our vertical windows. About a 120mm verandah all round. You mentioned earlier about shading the pilot house, we never even bother to close the curtains. Probably helpful...

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

Very neat SWL. I don't have experience with boom tents except to see yachts arriving at anchorage and sometimes struggling to erect them or take them down when the wind comes up or before leaving to...

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

Personally I'd really want to ditch the boom tent and have a permanent fixed Bimini/solar installation/windscreen. Weavis you better edit the delta..at least add a roll bar!

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

We met this designer, Peter Gallinelli when he was launching his new 60' aluminium expedition yacht in La Rochelle last year. Some really interesting and original thinking goes into his designs and...

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

I don't see much downside to having an emergency rudder to fit the previously mentioned transom bracket. Even in flat plate aluminium with a bolt on tiller it's got to be a better option than trying...

re: Bestevaer 49ST

Are you having a generator? I didn't see one mentioned. Are you going to fit a watt load of solar on a Bimini? It looks like it would work. Batteries, going lipo? Just curious as energy design is...

re: Bestevaer 49ST

Ah yes, looks beautifully finished. I quite like the brushed finish of the Ovni's as well. Maybe a bit more forgiving to upkeep and likely a lot less labour. Maybe it has more to do with being a hard...

re: Bestevaer 49ST

Noëlex I'm curious about the bow. The first pic you posted shows what I would have thought to be deformed/stove in/poorly built bows. I know some designs have very fine bows to slice through the...
