Good for you! I had both & I agree with you... the only problem with Yanmar is that I've never been able to handcrank it while I did it several time with Volvos & dead batteries :( Try it & let us...

Whatever brand you choose, you should look seriously at saildrive transmission with geared folding or feathering prop unless you like to loose at least one knot with a fixed prop when sailing...

Hi ! One argument is to look at the number of retailers, repair centers, etc... I would guess Yanmar is more widespread than Beta ? Isn't it ?
