Re: Anyone Using a High Performance Cat / Tunnel Hull Dinghy ?

Your probably correct. Stuff enough air under the hull and the water is no longer supporting much of the tender's weight directly, but with the cushion of air in between.

Re: Anyone Using a High Performance Cat / Tunnel Hull Dinghy ?

Re: Anyone Using a High Performance Cat / Tunnel Hull Dinghy ?

Hope I haven't started something here that I'll regret when I'm out cruising. lol A nice peaceful anchorage punctuated my 60 MPH tenders flying across the water. Could be worse than a swarm of PWCs....

Re: Anyone Using a High Performance Cat / Tunnel Hull Dinghy ?

I wish I could remember off the top of my head, but I know that country has been in the game for awhile. Do a google search using a SA mirror so that SA companies are given priority in the search...

Re: Anyone Using a High Performance Cat / Tunnel Hull Dinghy ?

Greg,

Can you tell by these pictures if they are using the same mold as your 7 year old model? I couldn't tell by your picture.

Re: Anyone Using a High Performance Cat / Tunnel Hull Dinghy ?

Now all I need to do is find out if that new company has a dealer network yet in the States. With this type of performance tender, we here in the US has always been behind the Kiwis, Aussies, and...

Mattofosho,

I hope you return to this thread and tell me more about your tender. From what I have seen on their web site, I am impressed.

Re: Anyone Using a High Performance Cat / Tunnel Hull Dinghy ?

Matt directed me to a Aussie tender that claims a 3.3 hp motor can plane it out. That would mean less than 3.3 hp to hold it on plane, and that is really good. I feel an electric, even at the same...

Re: Anyone Using a High Performance Cat / Tunnel Hull Dinghy ?

I plan on strapping the 3.2 volt cells as 6 seperate blocks, each weighing about 53 lbs and removable. Good old velcro on the bottom of each bank and matching velcro on the flooring slats.

Re: Anyone Using a High Performance Cat / Tunnel Hull Dinghy ?

My need is for a very efficient minimum wetted hulled "anything" that can ride the davits in all sea conditions. If there are hard boats out there that are light, have a tunnel or cat bottom, then...

Re: Anyone Using a High Performance Cat / Tunnel Hull Dinghy ?

Thank you George for taking the time to post your experiences. My last tender was Hypalon and never had any problems with it. Even explored the glaciers outside of Valdez Narrows with all the calving...

George and everyone, thanks for the feedback. George, other than the obvious lack of quality, how have you liked the AMI ? Does it do what you need well enough, if the 3rd one lasts 10 years you...

Anyone Using a High Performance Cat / Tunnel Hull Dinghy ?

Am I the only one considering one of the high performance cat/tunnel hulled dinghy? These are made for high speed rescue but also would make a great, economical tender. Some models will accept 50 hp...
