Re: A poll Happy with LiFe (PO4)?

But this was on a small scale RC battery, right? Not the large 100~1000 a-hr cells we use as house and/or propulsion banks.

Re: A poll Happy with LiFe (PO4)?

The 3rd "No" vote came from a radio controlled model boat user, not a full size boat. For our proposes, still 100% satisfaction.

Re: A poll Happy with LiFe (PO4)?

The two "No" votes are from people that have never owned LiFePO4 cells. A reminder, this poll is for folks that have owned and used these cells, not opinions. So, we are still at 100% satisfaction...

Re: A poll Happy with LiFe (PO4)?

I have the Winston 100 a-hr cells, 2 packs of 4 cells in series.

If you have open room and don't need to match a golf cart battery's footprint I would go with a series string of cells, in your...

Footprint for fit? Typical golf cart battery 10.3" X 7.1" Height 11"

My (4) 100 a-hr Winston cells 10.0" X 7.0" Height 8.75"

You must have used (8) 6 volt golf cart batteries. (24) of the...

Re: A poll Happy with LiFe (PO4)?

T1 Terry,

Cycles 1~40 about 1/2 were as you put it, "a thrashing." Cycles 41~current have been 2 hours at 40 amps or 80 amps pulled from the 100 a-hr cells. Resting voltage after these 80 amp...

Re: A poll Happy with LiFe (PO4)?

Balqon heavy equipment is having some financial woes but it looks like their LiFePO4 cells is growing a larger customer base. It is out of text posts like the above that can sink a struggling...

Re: A poll Happy with LiFe (PO4)?

Did you get the brand new grey cased cells? Because of the DIY EV'ers that EVTV Motor Verks Store (https://store.evtv.me/) caters to, they seem to move their Li stock at a good rate. I think they are...

Re: A poll Happy with LiFe (PO4)?

Li won't make economic sense to every boater, depends on usage. If you cycle your house bank 100 times a year or more go with Li. Charge acceptance with Li allows for less gen set run time, another...

Re: A poll Happy with LiFe (PO4)?

Not to mention 73 lb total bank weight vs 365 lb of lead for less usable a-hr.

Re: A poll Happy with LiFe (PO4)?

Rich, ask Balqon if they still have the clearance sale on the 700 a-hr cells for $560 each. Since Winston underrates their cells by 15% those 700 a-hr cells will deliver 805 a-hr X 80% DOD = 644...

Re: A poll Happy with LiFe (PO4)?

Not to mention no gasses, corrosion, or holes in clothes. Also mount anywhere and no need for ventilation.

Re: A poll Happy with LiFe (PO4)?

Maybe just a case of "....nothing has 100% satisfaction, got to change that."

One of my little Li packs @ 30 lbs would be a good fit for a O'Day 22.

Re: A poll Happy with LiFe (PO4)?

T1 Terry has over 800 cycles on his cells, that would be a lot in just 3 years. Did he ever mention their age? From the threads I think he has had them longer than the rest of us.

Re: A poll Happy with LiFe (PO4)?

Mine are 4 1/2 years old. For someone that is a full time cruiser and cycling at least twice a week year in and year out, I would say LiFePO4 is cheapest in the long run. If you were cycling everyday...

Re: A poll Happy with LiFe (PO4)?

Lloyd,

The advances we have had in batteries the last 15 years, makes one wonder about what is ahead? Smartphones and ipads wouldn't be possible without them.

Re: A poll Happy with LiFe (PO4)?

Cy,

Nothing with lead, nickel, or cadmium even comes close to the performance of these cells, glad you like them.

Re: A poll Happy with LiFe (PO4)?

Bump. Only 29 folks on the forum using LiFePO4 cells? At least they are all happy campers with their cells.
