good-oh,Kojiro! ...and, yes , you can have a "data stream" and no fix! just keep in mind that Windows is not your friend when it comes to Port#'s and you'll be fine! |

... This exact message OFTEN means your gps port # has changed, or the gps isn't on, or it hasn't got access to the gps, so OpenCPN can't find it when starting. OpenCPN remembers your configuration... |

I think it's pretty standard that a gps usb or serial can only be used by one app at a time and that it's best if the device is plugged in before you start the app. That's why I like the port... |

Kojiro, I think captstu means the "Coldstart" button in "GPSInfo" -the supplementary software he mentioned... If my memory serves, Sirfdemo (in Post 2) also has a "cold start" feature. |

Corlfoot, Can you find what "Port" Coastal Explorer sees the gps?And then set OpenCPN to the same in the GPS settings?You have already read the OpenCPN helpfile... and I don't have CE but most Nav... |
