Re: Bestevaer 49ST

:thumb: With the pricing on the Bestevaer Pure, it's amazing that people still buy other new boats when they could have something so beautiful

So now after wintering in the North, what...

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

Just curious about the drive failure - Did the drive develop a "hard spot" where it would work fine until it turned the rudder to that spots position, and then it would fail? I have two friends that...

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

Congratulations you two.

My wife just framed a few photos for our boat the other day, and one of them is of Anabel from when we anchored next to her in the Canaries. Such beautiful boats!

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

Now that is way too cool! Is this a common addition specified by other Bestevaer customers? I figured you'd just have a sheet as large as the largest opening and use it wherever needed.... only...

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

That's the way Garcia has been doing it since at least the mid 80s (plastic barrel).... Our neighbors 1985 42' had the same blue barrel, but with a diaphragm bilge pump sucking water out the bottom...

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

From what I've seen, yes, there is an issue. Our boat had dry chain sitting in the bilge (I dont know how long) but there was enough corrosion below this that we cut that 2'x3.5' section out and...

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

The boat looks amazing! Love the wood choice.... Modern and very Dutch!

Is the kick panel at the bottom stair a different wood? Maybe just light, but looks more finished Mahogany.

Those are inset doors. The face frame vs frameless are for only..... the frame.

Oh, that's incredibly beautiful looking! I love the layout and wood choice. Look how nice they finished even the aluminum cabin sole supports!

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

Staying with the Dutch theme... What about deck hardware? Are you going Anderson for winches? Reckmann electric furler? Rinderinkhof Windlass :)

Edit: Dang, Reckmann is German. But then...

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

Their smaller drives are rebadged to Simrad DD15 (which you can find cheaper than the Jefa units. They're nice, lower power usage drives... and quiet too.

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

Oh, it's plywood. I figured a hardwood. Are the overheads velcroed into place (the blackish strip in the photos) or screwed? I figured the blackish tape was a anti squeak foam tape.

Awesome way to do the overhead. Any idea what they used to bond the wood to the aluminum?

Do you have photos of the wiring, insulation and plumbing before the ceilings/ overhead went...

Re: Bestevaer 49ST

REALLY? Besides being a monohull, I see no similarities. Sheer, bow, stern, and cabin line are all polar opposite of the Bestevaer/Dykstra's design. It's always interesting what others see with a...

Wow! The framing looks crazy strong for the deck and cabin top. What size is the deck/ cabin plating? As always, it looks beautiful.
