Re: How to receive Weather Faxes
GRIBs are a forecast, covering up to several days in the future. The NOAA computers provide forecasts for *now* (current conditions as of the last computer run), now+3 hours, +6, +9, ... +189, +192... |

Re: How to receive Weather Faxes
Sorry, I don't know how. But why would you want to? Five days is usually decent accuracy in a general way, beyond ten days is getting into the pure fantasy range. If I am letting my computer do... |

Re: How to receive Weather Faxes
Yes, really strange! I am using Thunderbird for email here at home, and the PYBA01.TIF file Saildocs sent me is 16.4 kBytes (this shows as 17 KB when I save it). Saildocs claims to be getting the... |

Re: How to receive Weather Faxes
I just tried both the noaa ftp site and saildocs, in both cases getting "PYBA01.TIF" The noaa version is 32 kBytes, but the saildocs version is 17 kBytes. NOAA also has "PYBA01.gif" on their ftp... |

Re: How to receive Weather Faxes
I just looked at the script I was using on my cron job, and it was getting ftp files from tgftp.nws.noaa.gov/fax (PYBA01.TIF, and others). Perhaps something has changed, or I should have been... |

Re: How to receive Weather Faxes
Yes. I've found that the saildocs wfax charts are curther compressed (smaller size) than the ones I used to get directly from NOAA. I posted this some time back: You should check the catalog,... |

Re: How to receive Weather Faxes
