Re: Florida Mooring and Anchoring Pilot Program Survey

I appreciate your logic, but this was the exact reason the state law was passed.

On a personal level, I have 55' of sea wall dockage and I suppose that it only becomes more valuable as...

Re: Florida Mooring and Anchoring Pilot Program Survey

So you reckon this buys us 3 years?

Can't we do better? Why not just give miami a "pilot program" also?

Re: Florida Mooring and Anchoring Pilot Program Survey

It's your choice to have a 60' boat. Don't bitch about the cost. Watercraft insurance is not mandatory in MI and they don't have any of the same issues we're discussing here.

Re: Florida Mooring and Anchoring Pilot Program Survey

Yes, getting rid of boats is cheap here. You can take a 30' fiberglass to the dump for a few hundred bucks. A few hundred bucks to haul and trailer. Less a few hundred in parts and scrap metal you...

Re: Florida Mooring and Anchoring Pilot Program Survey

The pilot or gram in most aspects especially here in St aut has nothing to do with the mooring.

It's just hat under state law, they can only ban anchoring in mooring fields and they wanted to ban...

Re: Florida Mooring and Anchoring Pilot Program Survey

I guess that's why Titusville need the pilot program laws to force people to use their mooring field.......

sorry I meant "promote the use of"

Re: Florida Mooring and Anchoring Pilot Program Survey

And they have found nothing of actual substance. Celadly has had the desired effect if Titusville as their rep is sponsoring the desired extension.

How long till it spreads to the entire state....

Re: Florida Mooring and Anchoring Pilot Program Survey

So I'm no suggesting removing existing mooring fields.

I'm suggesting we stand FIRM on not allowing any additional anchoring laws.

The pilot program was designed to experiment with different...

Re: Florida Mooring and Anchoring Pilot Program Survey

Sorry it is 955
1126 is correct. This is florida so maybe they reuse the number since they pass so many dumb laws.

Re: Florida Mooring and Anchoring Pilot Program Survey

The pilot program is a "study" on further regulation. It was started when cities complained about the anchoring law passed around 2005 that stripped them of ability to regulate anchoring locally. The...

Re: Florida Mooring and Anchoring Pilot Program Survey

The stated goal of the laws is to "protect marine infrastructure" requiring insurance allow is to anchor as we see fit and the infrastructure owners are assured of reimbursement if we make bad...

Re: Florida Mooring and Anchoring Pilot Program Survey

Well if you want future anchoring in Florida, a price will have to be paid.

I can purchase liability insurance for my boat for under $200 a year. 6 months on transient moorings would cost around...

Re: Florida Mooring and Anchoring Pilot Program Survey

I have been doing some work on this lately and encouraging all that live in FL to call their state reps.

I have no idea now much specific pressure lawmakers are feeling on this issue, but my guess...

Re: Florida Mooring and Anchoring Pilot Program Survey

I should say, several have moved N and S of city limits. But lots were hauled and scrapped over the last many years.

Re: Florida Mooring and Anchoring Pilot Program Survey

The derelict boats are long gone. Hence the fear of easing the heavy hand now.

Re: Florida Mooring and Anchoring Pilot Program Survey

In most towns, the state "leases" the land to the cities for $0. I reckon they should have to pay a market rate and mooring fields would be totally unsustainable.

In St Augustine, the city claims...

I GOT IT: free and unrestricted anchoring for all FL registered boats.

No anchoring for out of state regos.

problem solved?

That's why we live here. And I personally like the publicly managed privately owned model in the NE. The density of the harbors is also totally different.

that's what's happening on the waterways and it's wrong. The cities should have to pay a fair market lease for the land and...

I guess the other way to look at this is not only does it improve the view for the land owners, but it get the riff raff blue collar types off the waterways for the...
