Forum Member's Boat and Daughter in Trouble off of Mexico

Unfortunately when you read RHs blog, as a sailor you wince, yes they are describing their reality. But as a group, sailors don't do this. We don't really relate the personal issues. The fear, the...

Forum Member's Boat and Daughter in Trouble off of Mexico

Mr Weber, you have obviously done no long distance passages. Or else they were idyllic. Reading Eric's blogs just now, I see the normal reality of cruising , as opposed to the idyll , we ourselves...

When the next unfortunate , who you don't know, presses the red button , I'll remind you of your comment. Personally I have defended far more then just one.

Forum Member's Boat and Daughter in Trouble off of Mexico

Actually I repeatedly made the point that I was not seeking to comment on there dream, what's decisions they made to arrive at where they did. , I fully respect and seek not to contradict

But the...

Re: Forum Member's Boat and Daughter in Trouble off of Mexico

While you have good intentions , what you say is just speculation. We know some facts , a rescue was mounted, a baby was treated and the boat was abandoned. Furthermore we have in existence the...

That's not entirely fair. Reasoned analysis is useful and serves to inform those that may consider threading the same path.

Forum Member's Boat and Daughter in Trouble off of Mexico

[QUOTE]

People who read this and plan to sail away for the first time better take notice of what long time sailors like Mark, me and others write here. Only very few husband and wife teams are...

I wish CF was as kind to others that pressed the red button. We've suddenly become mighty selective

Who is he ?

Forum Member's Boat and Daughter in Trouble off of Mexico

You mistake my comments. I am not wriggling my finger in their wound. I'm sure they are doing that more then anyone here will ever do.

I merely take what she wrote at face value. In that regard...

Forum Member's Boat and Daughter in Trouble off of Mexico

Undoubtably, whether kids should be " best behaved", mature and responsible is another thing entirely. Primarily they should be kids not small adults. They'll have enough of maturity etc later on to...

Ok, thanks I didn't know their position in that regards. You and I are fully in agreement, in hindsight , it might have been better for then to gain more experience in dealing with their new family a...

That's not the issue, a decision was made to medivac the child. The family went with her , do you seriously expect anything else to matter. Who cares about the boat. It's utterly irrelevant and I...

Re: Forum Member's Boat and Daughter in Trouble off of Mexico

What does it matter about the boat. I would not expect a father to abandon his family in favour of a plastic boat.

Re: Forum Member's Boat and Daughter in Trouble off of Mexico

Sure you do, whether that's an 3000 ocean mile voyage with small kids is another debate entirely and one that will be interesting to hear from eric. Until then this thread has a lot of noise in it. ...

Personally speaking, I've made it a point not to mock anyone that needed rescue irrespective of the reasons why, no more then I didnt mock wolfhound, or the atlas rescue etc etc.

I have no truck...

Re: Forum Member's Boat and Daughter in Trouble off of Mexico

I must say the whole rescue is a tribute to the air national guard and the US navy. An air based rescue at 900 miles is no mean feat. Being involved in SAR here, we would struggle to deploy that...

While that may be true, compared to your loved ones, they are but a floating piece of plastic. Family first, boats second.
