HTH-

You are absolutely correct if it to be used in a climbing system it is not to be used alone. Our usage is completely different in that its purpose is to keep you from going overboard.

If you want really cheap, make some out of some old halyards or sheets (pretty easy with a few knots).. The catch is how much will it hurt if they truly arrest an overboard event - the wider the...

Ideal way to go is real sailing harness ($80 plus) or the combo auto-inflate vest with D-rings in the front, but they are pretty expensive ($250 plus).
