I like the idea of using brake line to suck the oil out the dipstick rather than the plastic stuff.

I have a Volvo-Penta evil 2003t green demon engine and I'll have to see what size best fits...

An oil filter should never be put on tighter than hand-tight. It's just a rubber O-ring seal. Making it tighter will not make it seal better, in fact it might make it seal worse as it can be...

You have "heard" right. Very few modern boat engines from the last 40+ years, gas or diesel, will have a drain plug in the oil pan or the "sump" as some are wont to call it. With rules against...
