Update found out that the westerbeke 10-two is a Mitsubishi k2b engine that is used in small lawn tractors and forklifts. I purchased one for real cheap due to previous owner wanting a new engine... |

all you have to do is figure out what Kubota block you have and have the local farm tractor dealer do the rebuild . Or you could repower with about any small marine diesel or rip it all out and go... |

there is just so much incorrect in this post . I ran my semis well over a million miles between rebuilds. They spend more than 60% of their their run time idling. Which means it shows no miles... |

you do realise that the yanmar's are are not ( for the most part ) purpose built for Marine they are in fact marinized farm tractor engines . |

in your situation if you are looking to purchase I would get a general survey as well as a mechanical survey and engine oil analysis .after at least 10 hours on new oil. |

there is also the whole cluster that you can get yourself up the creek with in electronics would much rather mechanical injection . Works without electricity just like a good old carb. |

That's why I like my md2 it can be hand cranked as of now the only parts I don't have spares of is the md2 specific parts like the block and crankshaft , 90% of the rest will fit the md1 md2 or... |

cost of overhaul vs new when off for extended remote cruising there is the expected reliability factor for those not as mechanically inclined |
