In a word, resources --- and people are taught to be wary, if not positively frightened, of older things. As well as desiring 'new', often inferior ones.

Not absolutely sure, but the engine is probably Perkins/Shibaura based. Not sure about the model number either, but KN9, 3H3XL, 451E2V are numbers associated with an engine that looks a lot like the...
