Re: I've Gone and Done it Now

The next couple of years will consist of just day / weekend sailing along the Gulf coast due to work while waiting on retirement, I hope to be able to do the dry Tortugas or something during my two...

Re: I've Gone and Done it Now

Arch plans derailed due as much to finances as anything else plus I can't seem to find anyone to build me a custom arch anyway.
Davits is what it will be. Whose I'm unsure of but was leaning towards...

Re: I've Gone and Done it Now

We are in slip 316 in the Panama City marina, be down most weekends,
drop by and I'm sure we can find some kind of adult beverage and grill some kind of flesh :thumb:

On edit, the gate is locked,...

Re: I've Gone and Done it Now

I had blue chart on my IPAD and phone, and we were supposed to be in 7.9 to 8.9' of water but weren't. Now it was close to low tide as I believe the only thing worse than running aground, is running...

Re: I've Gone and Done it Now

Motor is right at or slightly under 100 lbs, yeah I know doesn't sound right for a 20 HP 4 stroke, I had a hard time believing it too.
Plan is to remove motor and hang it on the rail, then lift...

Re: I've Gone and Done it Now

To do what I want to do which is sort of cruising some of the local islands, I'll need a dink to get to shore, one that can plane and hold four people. Dink weighs 130 lbs, that's huge?

Re: I've Gone and Done it Now

Nope haven't posted any photos, and yes that is exactly what I meant by arch, are they known by other names? I'd like one if possible that would raise the dink high enough for me to see under when...

Re: I've Gone and Done it Now

I don't know how many we have, the delivery trip with the mechanical issues and some weather thrown in meant not much time to do anything but run the boat and sleep

Re: I've Gone and Done it Now

I've got a Zodiac 3.10 RIB and a Suzuki 20 HP four stroke, but no davits or arch, so I have a Dinghy, just can't use it. I bought the Dinghy when I was sure I was buying another boat that failed...

Re: I've Gone and Done it Now

Newt, no problem at all you gave me sage advice and I did modify my plans somewhat based on them which helped, besides add a little weather or similar such mayhem and it may have been a different...

Re: I've Gone and Done it Now

I've got a lot to learn that is for sure. One reason I want to put off buying stuff is I think I need to learn sailing first before I go and spend money.
In the flying business I see often people...

Re: I've Gone and Done it Now

It's a Raymarine 435 I think, date on the "chip", it's a compact flash card is 2003, so I know it's an old plotter.
I won't replace it for quite some time. Only have so many boat bucks to spend and...

Sorry about not responding, all I had was the phone and I was getting pretty tired, then we jumped off of Marathon Fri. afternoon and headed straight for Panama City. I don't want to ever do that...

Re: I've gone and done it now

Made a little over 80 NM day one. Had engine troubles in first three hours. Engine would intermittently sag to 1200 RPM for 30 sec or so and then pick back up. Thought it was lift pump as filters...

Re: I've gone and done it now

PO bought her three years ago and I think she has sat since then. Now how Long did she sit before he bought her? I have no idea. It's normal of course for boats to sit for sometimes long periods...

I've gone and done it now

Tampa St Pete has been the back up plan. By that time I assume I would have learned enough to her her home without professional help. You never know about these things I may not get very far at all....

Re: I've gone and done it now

Thanks, I'm thinking it will be a lot like guard duty was way back in the day when I used to pull that.

Re: I've gone and done it now

Newt, your right of course. I'd much rather ease her into it, you know a nice moonlit cruise to a nice restraunt to eat or whatever. At this point it is what it is, like the boat shirts, not enough...

You guy's don't jinx me now.
