When people make judgmental remarks it doesn't make much sense to take them personally, all they are doing is showing you their own insecurities, so don't bother reacting.

I know my boats fairly well but I don't know your market and especially what's available. Australia has always been quite expensive for yachts so many yachts i might suggest may well be too much...
